In 1988 the NBA Slam Dunk competition boiled down to Jordan versus Wilkins, with the final dunk off going to the wire with winner determined by the last of three dunks. Jordan needed a 48 to tie or a 49 to beat Wilkins. Jordan and Wilkins both performed dunks rated at a 50 point score by judges previously. Jordan misses on his first try, and the rest is history.
