Future Starz

basketballscotland is proud to release information on the  Future Starz programme 2012/13 for u11 to 14 players. This is the second year of the programme and it replaces the Talent Development Programme of previous years. We hope the programme will continue to encourage and help the young players of Scotland to develop their skills and knowledge of the game.  The programme will include:

• National team coaches
• Regular sessions for u11-14’s
• Individual fundamentals
• Speed and agility training
• Sports psychology

Regional trials:

• Edinburgh West (21.09.12 & 05.10.12)
• Edinburgh East (21.09.12 & 05.10.12)
• Central (23.09.12 & 07.10.12)
• West (23.09.12 & 07.10.12)
• Highland (23.09.12 & 07.10.12)
• Grampian (20.09.12 & 04.10.12)
• Tayside & Fife (23.09.12 & 07.10.12)
• Uist Satellite Centre ( 09.10.12 & 10.10.12)

 Regional sessions:

• Edinburgh West (Fridays – St. Augustine’s HS)
• Edinburgh East (Fridays – Gracemount HS)
• Central (Sundays – The Peak)
• West (Sundays – The Lagoon)
• Highland (Sundays – Millburn Academy)
• Grampian (Thursdays – International School of Aberdeen)
• Tayside & Fife (Sundays – Mayfield SC)
• Uist Satellite Centre (Saturdays – Sgoil Lionacleit)

National Camps

Girls:
Saturday 27th October 2012 (Mayfield SC, Dundee)
Overnight camp – Saturday 2nd March/Sunday 3rd March 2013 (St Augustine’s HS, Edinburgh)

Boys:
Sunday 28th October 2012 (Mayfield SC, Dundee)
Overnight camp -Saturday 9th/Sunday 10th March 2013 (St Augustine’s HS, Edinburgh)

How much will it cost? All players selected will be asked to pay a player contribution of £80 which includes all of the above sessions, including the overnight camp and exclusive Future Starz reversible kit. Payment can be made at the October National Camp, further details will be sent out upon selection

National team training

In addition to the Player development programme we will also run a short International competition programme for the girls and boys selected at the Overnight National Camp in March. This is a great opportunity for our young players to compete with and learn from the best players and teams in Europe. For those selected, National team training will commence in March 2013 and run into the summer months.
