National League Review- Week 6

Normal service resumes in the National League with a full weekend of basketball after the October break. In the Under 16 men’s league the top of the table clash between Troon and Blaze will ultimately see one of the teams lose their 4 and 0 record. St Mirren Reid Kerr College travel to the Kingdom of Fife and Queen Anne High School to face Dunfermline Reign, with only one place separating them both in the league. The Troon and Blaze’s under 18 and senior men will complete the line up at both Stewarton Sports Centre and reign and Saints men at Queen Anne with the senior’s tipping off at 3.25 and 4pm respectively. Third placed Fury U16 men have the long journey north this weekend to face the up and coming Highland Bears team who are sitting 2 places below them in fifth. Perth and Muskies meet midweek after their extended October break, the only other game is at Shawlands Academy where Glasgow Rens take on City of Edinburgh Kings in both youth age groups.

With Tayside 16’s not playing this weekend, City of Edinburgh Kings have an opportunity to top the league, however either of the teams sitting in third and forth, Highland Bears and Clark Eriksson Fury respectively, may have something to say about that, as either of these teams could also be sitting at the top if they win this weekend.

Clark Eriksson Fury U16 girls will join with their male counterparts in making the long trip north to play Highland Bears. While the unbeaten Glasgow Rocks and new head coach Siobhan Moore travel to Arbroath to play the vastly improved Tayside Musketeers, who are in third place.  The under 18 and senior teams also meet at Arbroath High School, with the junior’s looking to remain unbeaten while the senior’s will hope that table topping Polonia slip up, when city rivals City of Edinburgh Kool Kats come calling at there new home at The Crags, in another triple header. This will be the first of three games in six days for the City of Edinburgh senior team, they then play league newcomers, Pentland Star on Tuesday at Portobello, and old rivals St Mirren Reid Kerr College on Friday at the Lagoon.
