Scotland U13s Take On Polonia Phoenix

This weekend saw in the last training session for the U13 girls before they travel to Sweden on Wednesday.

Firstly the coaching staff announced shooting guard Emma Norval and centre Rachel Wallace as this year’s Captain and Vice Captain. Congratulations to these two girls who have continued to lead by example and have shown themselves to be encouraging and supportive team mates.

The first hour of the session was used to go over the offensive plays and revise defensive positioning. For the next 2 hours Scotland took on Polonia Phoenix cadettes in a friendly match. This was a fantastic opportunity to see how the girls coped under pressure and how they all played together. There are a few areas for improvement but overall the Scotland girls put in a terrific performance and kept the experienced Scottish Cup winning side to within 20 points. Ellie Callon top scored with 18 points, Megan Thomson contributed 14 with Hansine Marshall and Claire Dewar offering 10 points apiece. Head coach Norma Wilson said: “I am delighted with the team’s effort and I’m confident that they will perform well in Gothenburg.”

The girls will receive their first Cap on Thursday afternoon when they take on Swedish club side Djursholm Indians.

Let’s Go Scotland!
