Scotland U16 Women – Squad Changes

In the last week the Scotland U16 Women’s Squad has seen a change to the original squad line-up that was announced in December.

The U16 women are sad to see Leah Stewart leave the training group and join the Scotland U15 girls squad. Leah was a member of the U16 women’s squad as a reserve and also a member of the U15 girls squad and despite great efforts by Leah, her parents and the coaching staff it was felt that continuing with both  programmes would not be sustainable in the long term. Therefore the decision was made that Leah would remain only with the U15 girls squad. The u16 Women coaching staff would like to thank Leah and her parents for everything they have contributed to-date. Their hard work and committment is greatly appreciated. On behalf of the entire Scotland U16 Women’s squad we would like to wish Leah the best of luck with her U15 National Programme and with the remainder of her  U14 season at West Lothian Wolves and on the Future Starz Programme.

Whilst one player leaves us another comes on board. The U16 women’s team would like to welcome Polonia Phoenix Cadette and previous Scotland U14 Girls player Lauren Forde. Lauren began the season training with the Scotland U15 girls and a decision has now been taken to ask her to join the U16 women’s squad. We are delighted that she has accepted the invitation. Lauren currently plays for her club at U16 and U18 National League and is a young player who shows a great deal of potential. She had already an U16 cap against Irish side Liffey Celtics last November and we are really looking forward to working with her. We are confident that all of the players will welcome Lauren and she will continue to improve through our programme.
