Six teams advance to 2012 Hope Trust Trophy Finals
The official City of Edinburgh Primary School Trophy
Monday 6th February 2012
Supported by basketballscotland, the City ofEdinburgh Sports Unit successfully ran a series of basketball tournaments on Monday at Meadowbank. Hall 1 was the venue allowing two games to be played on adjoining courts. Over 200 Primary-7 players coped well with all the extra space these courts provided.
Each competition was hotly contested with players trying their hardest to get their teams into the top two places to win through to the Finals morning. Some great skill and determination was on show in these mixed girls and boys teams.
The teams going through to the Finals are
- the early bird (9.30) competition Duddingston Primary and James Gillespie’s Primary.
- the 11.30 competition St Peter’s Primary and Victoria Primary.
- The 1.30 competition Bruntsfield Primary and Flora Stevenson Primary
These teams will compete for the Hope Trust Cup on the 12th March at Meadowbank.
Competing schools from across the City were Leith, Oxgangs, Prestonfield, Liberton, Lorne (last year’s winners),St Joseph’s, Cramond,CraigourPark, Towerbank, Hermitage Park and Gylemuir.
Thanks to all who helped at the event and to teachers, coaches and parents who coached teams and encouraged them in this competition.
Good luck in the Finals!
