Statisticians Numbers Add Up for Olympics and Paralympics

The London 2012 dream is alive for four of Scotland’s top basketball statistician’s. Following this year’s technical official clinics, the London International Basketball Invitational and recent assessments, basketballscotland are delighted to confirm that LOCOG have now made their final selection of the statisticians for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Dr. Alistair MaddockChristopher McBrierty and Malcolm Sutherland have all been selected as official statisticians for the Olympic Games in London this summer between 27th July and 12th August.

Euan Glass, Christopher McBrierty and Malcolm Sutherland have been nominated to be official statisticians at the Paralympic Games, also in London, between 29th August and 9th September 2012.

These appointments follow a stringent LOCOG selection process and have been ratified by both FIBA and IWBF.

All four of our statisticans regularly provide high quality numerical analysis of the shots scored, fouls committed, rebounds pulled down and assists dished out at basketballscotland Cup Finals, National Play Offs and International Events hosted in Scotland. They are now looking forward to the ultimate test.

The Officials Commission and basketballscotland are delighted with their selection and wish them all the best at the two biggest sporting events in the world happening in Great Britain this summer.
