James Lay 1957 – 2011

basketballscotland are saddened to hear the tragic news of the sudden passing of James Lay of St Maurices Glasgow Rocks Basketball Club on Friday 9th December 2011.

For over 30 years, Jim was a dedicated basketball coach at School, Development and National League level, and one of the key contributors to the development of Girls and Womens basketball. Jim was a driving force in the West, particularly through the St Maurices Glasgow Rocks club he helped establish in Cumbernauld, growing them in to fully fledged National League club at all age categories and producing several Scottish Internationalists.

A former Scotland National Team coach for Under 16 Women, Jim was a vocal presence in the basketball community and was fully committed to furthering and developing basketball. He will be sadly missed by his club, players and the basketball community.
