Elite Women’s Basketball League ‘Project Chair’
British Basketball is looking for an experienced sports person to lead a project team to consider the establishment of an elite women’s basketball league in the UK.
Whilst some basketball experience would be helpful, the Chair should have detailed knowledge of league developments in other sports and have some knowledge and experience of working in elite sport (preferably in professional team sports) either in the UK or abroad. They should also be able to collect views from a multi-stakeholder interests and be experienced in drawing together a report with recommendations using the talents brought together on an expert panel.The Performance Management Group within British Basketball has identified the need for a professional or semi-professional women’s league involving the home countries. British Basketball has been concerned with the level of the top end professional game in the home countries for some time. These concerns have centred on the need to enhance the British national team and the development of its contending players, and how best to showcase the game in the home countries and in Europe. The establishment of a new elite women’s league is seen as an enhancement for the national women’s team quality and competitiveness.
