CORPORATES BOUNCE THEIR WAY INTO THE FINAL CHALLENGE IN THE ACTIVITYMIX ABERDEEN CORPORATE DECATHLON

Beacon Basketball Club hosted the final event of the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October 2011. The Basketball Challenge was sponsored by Apache and was held over two days at the Beacon Centre in Bucksburn.

In addition to providing referees and table officials on the day Beacon Basketball Club provided coached training sessions in the weeks running up to the competition to help introduce the many new players to the sport.

Lisa Cochrane, Secretary at Beacon Basketball Club said, “When Activity Mix approached us about getting involved with the Corporate Decathlon we were delighted to come on board.  This has been an excellent opportunity for our club to increase participation and awareness of the basketball community in Aberdeen, not to mention the benefit of a fantastic fundraising opportunity for our club.  All the teams were very enthusiastic at training and the event itself was highly competitive and enjoyable for all”

Tiffany Sheppard, Tournament Manager at activitymix said, “Activitymix strives to facilitate links between client organisations and community based activity providers like the Beacon Basketball Club, we aim to assist in the identification of a ‘win-win’ opportunity that benefit both the community activity provider and our clients.  Beacon Basketball Club were exceptional in training clients and getting them ready for the event, as well as set up on the day and refereeing the games.  activitymix would like to extend a huge thank you to the club and especially Lisa Lawrence, for all their hard work & time.  It has been great to see such strong participation and enthusiasm from all of the participants at the Basketball Challenge which was sponsored by Apache.  It was a fantastic two day event which resulted in over 200 corporates taking part.  We look forward to working with the club again in 2012!”
