Belgium FIBA Instructor to deliver at Referee’s Pre-Season Seminar

basketballscotland are delighted to confirm the attendance of Johnny Jacobs, Beligium’s international referee instructor, at the 2011 Pre-season seminar for referees.

Johnny has a wealth of experience working with top referees in Europe as a FIBA Europe Instructor as well as in his home country of Belgium where referees “under his wing” include Euroleague referee Renaud Geller. He also continues to actively officiate in Belgium’s premier professional league the Ethias League.

This year’s seminar tip’s off at 9:15am at the Peak in Stirling for registration and we are looking forward to having the referees together for what is gearing up to be a great day.

In addition to a presentation by Johnny, The Officials’ Commission have organised a seminar programme which includes relevant DVD Clips from Scottish League and Cup games, rules test, fitness test (2o metre bleep test) and an on-court session

There will be sessions to suit all abilities and levels and Officials Commission invite and encourage Referees of all ages, levels and committment either to Schools, Regional or National Leagues to attend to help improve their rules knowledge, mechanics and game management skills as well as develop their confidence as a basketball referee.

*Attendance at this Seminar is highly recommended for all referees wishing to officiate in the basketballscotland National Leagues, Cups and Play offs.

**Attendance, combined with rules test and fitness test results, as well as current refereeing ability are all considering factors for all National League, Cup and Play Off games, including finals.
