Kilwinning Sports Club Basketball Camp

Below is a report from Graham Hunter on the success of his company’s summer camp in Ayrshire.

“From the 19th of July to the 22nd a good number of young Ayrshire boys and girls took part in a four day basketball camp at the Kilwinning Sports Club Coached by Reach for the Sky Basketball’s Founder & Managing Director Graham Hunter.
The camp focused on the main skills and techniques of basketball such as shooting, dribbling, passing and defence in a wide variety of fun drills and games.

The main objective was that the players had a good time; therefore the camp did not focus on elite performance. It was more focused on development and maximum participation blended with fun and competitiveness.

The children got a lot out of the camp and improved a great deal, as they are all generally football focused. It was great partnership work between Kilwinning Sports Club and Reach for the Sky Basketball as well as Reach for the Sky’s first time in Ayrshire.

Ayrshire has tremendous young talent and a legacy of successful clubs on a National level. Camp Head Coach Graham Hunter in his younger days was a part of the Troon Tornadoes squad that won the Scottish Under 18 National league and Scottish Cup back in 2000. After the success of the camp there is potential for a great partnership between Kilwinning Sports Club and Reach for the Sky Basketball to carry on future events together in which we would make contact with Basketball Ayrshire to talk over possibilities of spotting potential players for the teams set up in the Ayrshire area.
