Get involved – National Project Groups

Over the past 12 months, basketballscotland’s Executive Board have undertaken a review of the volunteer groups operating within the structure.  The review was led by Colin Haldane, who has served on the volunteer groups previously, and CEO, Kevin Pringle.

Following the review, the Board have agreed to reconstitute a number of the currently operating volunteer groups in addition to establishing a “National Game Committee” which will by a Board-led group tasked with increasing consultation with the basketball community on matters which have importance to the game nationally.

The changes to the operational volunteer groups include:

  • A revised to the remit to focus on:
    • Advising and Supporting professional staff
    • Consulting with the membership
  • An appointed chair to lead the group and work with the professional staff
  • A link between the operational volunteer groups and the National Game Committee for matters of importance across volunteer groups
  • A link between the operational volunteer groups and the Executive Board initially through the Chair – CEO relationship and direct to the Board when necessary

These changes will be implemented for the 2011-12 season and, as we refresh the roles and remits, the Board are seeking expressions of interest from any individuals who believe they can add value to these groups.

If you are interested in contributing to the sport through one of the following groups we want to hear from you (please click on the group to view their remit):

Expressions of interest can be made by e-mailing admin@basketball-scotland.com including the following:

  • Which group(s) you would like to contribute to
  • A short paragraph on what you can bring to the group
  • Your contact details

All expressions of interest should be submitted by Wednesday 8 June 2011 and will be considered by the Board in June.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact CEO, Kevin Pringle at the basketballscotland office on 0131 317 7260 or Kevin.pringle@basketball-scotland.com
