Following successfully refereeing the inaugral Scottish Senior Mens Play off Final at Stirling
Chris Dodds – FIBA Referee

in March, Chris Dodds, one of Scotland’s two current International FIBA referees, continued to represent basketballscotland Officiating in Europe this midweek by calling the deciding Game 3 in the FIBA Europe EuroChallenge Quarter Final between BC Oostende of Belgium and Latvian club side Ventspils.

After games 1 and 2 went with home form, the crucial game 3 went ahead on 30th March 2011 with the Belgian side having home advantage. This again proved crucial as Oostende squeezed out a 70-63 victory to clinch the series in front of 4ooo happy home fans.

The game caps a relatively successful season in Europe with Dodds refereeing a Mens Eurochallenge 1/4 final game and Womens Euroleague 1/8 final games.

Working the game with two Euroleague referees, the experiences will no doubt benefit some of the younger referees in Scotland as Dodds doubles up his role as referee with that of Scottish National Referee Instructor as well as basketballscotland development Manager for Tayside & Fife.
