Saints Coach Gets A Win On His Birthday!

1st quarter

PP win the tip, but give away the ball straight away, No8 gets a steal for PP, No11 PP drives to the basket by No11 SM,  fouls on the floor PP ball on the end line.  SM No4 gets  fast break lay-up to open the scoring.  No10SM scores 2 from a drive to the basket then gets the steal and scores again. No 4 drives to basket for SM but misses a hrad lay-up over No15 for PP.  Foul by No 10 on No15 shooting 2 from the line makes the 1st and the 2nd. Score 6-2 SM 3mins in. Steal by no8 PP and gets the fast break lay-up.  Foul by No11 PP SM baseline ball, another foul by 15 PP sideline ball and SM turnover the ball, but PP lose the ball straight away. Foul commited by No11, 2 shot to SM No10 and scores both.  SM steal the ball in there own half and take control for a 3 pointer from no10.  No12 for PP score a quick 2 at the other end.  No 11 grabs an OR but PP fail to score, SM on offense, No11 drives to basket and gets fouled by No14 PP, shooting 2 FT, makes both.  SM press the inbound and force a turnover. No4 SM get fouled and goes to the line and makes 1 from 2. SM No10 blocks No15 shot, PP ball from baseline, TO. No 8 PP fouls No10 and send her to the line for 2 shots, PP on team fouls. as are SM. Good cut to basket No11 SM and get easy lay-up. Score 17-6 SM, 4mins to go in the 1st quarter. Timeout for PP.  PP ball from baseline SM still pressing inbound.  Long fast break pass get No4 SM easy lay-up. SM tough D causes 24sec violation, TO. SM score 2 from No10.  PP No8 scoremidrange baseline 2. 15 SM goes strong to basket and scores easy basket, foul by 15 SM in transition, No8 PP takes 2 from the line, misses 1st scores the 2nd.  2mins to go 23 – 9.  Foul by No 8 PP,  No4 takes 2 from the line, scores 1 from 2.  No12 PP scores makes baseline 2points. Strong offensive rebound from 10SM and gets the put back.  Foul on no11makes the basket and shoots 1 and makes it as well, fouled by no15.  Big block by 12 PP and take the ball up the court with 20secs to go.  SM take control of the ball and see out the last seconds of the game.  St Mirren are in control of the game with an 18 point lead at the end of the 1st.

2nd Quarter

SM ball from the start, good hands from no6 PP stop baseline cut pass,  ball out of bounds SM ball, No9 scores baseline 2 with 3secondes left on the shot clock.  Another fast break lay-up for No4 SM, SM press the ball and get the steal but No11 get called for offensive charge.  PP ball from the baseline, a wasted offense by PP then by SM.   No4. SM really pressing hard on the point guard for PP, No8 gets a steal and fast break but no11 SM hussled back to block the shot out of bounds. No8 gets a another steal but gets blcoked on the lay-up.  PP get a baseline 2.  SM no11 gets fouled going to the basket and goes to the line for 2 and makes both.  No 10 gives good outlet pass to no4 who scores the fast break lay-up.  No8 stealsthe ball and dishes to No10 but No10 SM blcoks the shot.  No8 PP fouls No4 SM going to the basket and shoots 2 from the FT, makes the 1stand the 2nd.   Score 39 -13 SM, 5mins to go in the 2nd.  PP turnover the ball in SM’s half. No10 grabs offensive board but gets called for a travel.    PP’s ball but No15 gets steal and tries for fast break, no10 PP gets the ball back. Another TO for PP and No10 scores for 2.  Jump ball PP get ball then No8 gets fouled and goes to the line makes 1 from 2 from the line.  No 15 gives fast break outlet pass to No4 and scores for 2 points.  PP call for a time-out with 3 and a half mins left, score 43 – 14. Foul by No15 SM, push in the back on No11, No11 PP goes to the line shooting 2, misses both but get a retry on the 2nd for a foul on the jump to the ball, shes makes her retry for 1pt.  No8 SM scores to in the paint.  No5  gets the steal high up the court and gets the 2 points on the break. No5 SM gets called for holding, PP ball on the baseline.  PP lose the ball SM on offence. SM work the ball into the post and No8 scores an easy 2, PP No 11 scores 2 with a bankshot, PP get a steal by No8, and No 6 gets fould goin to basket shooting 2 and makes both shots.  25secs to go 49-19.   No8 SM scores baseline 2 with 2 secs on the shot clock.   St Mirren continue to dominate Phoenix, by pushing the ball up the court and scoring easy baskets, Phoenix have shown good qualities offensively moving the ball well and crashing the boards.  Score 51 – 19

3rd quarter

SM ball from the start, 11 grabs OR, but SM lose ball after steal then no10 SM holding fould on No6 PP.  PP take the ball up on offence but turnover the ball SM have the ball. good hussle gets PP the ball after jump ball decision by referee.  No 11 for PP goes into the post and scores a hook shot for 2,  SM score  a quick 2 back, PP have the ball on SM baseline, lose possession after good DR from SM,  No10 SM drives to the basket and draws the foul, she shoots 2 FT makes 1 from 2.  No 9 SM gets the steal and No10 scores easy lay-up.  PP have the offense but SM make good DR, SM on offence and score deep 2 from No9, PP steal the ball, SM knock ball out of court PP fail to score the basket, TO by SM and PP score a fast break 2,  No 10 comes back down and scores another quick 2points, No4 SM runs the floor and get another fast break 2 points after a good defence from SM to get the steal.  PP get rebound from SM shot, No5 SM fouls on the arm on No 6 PP.  3mins to go 62 -23, PP No8 scores 1st 3 of the game.  No5 returns with baseline 2, PP score another 3 from No 8 PP.Fast break for PP to strong a pass by No8 to No 5 goes out of bounds.  Time-out called, 1min 30 to go score 64-29.  SM get ball on baseline,  but TO in PP half,  PP then TO, No15 drives and draws the foul. baseline ball and 15 SM scores 2.  PP Sideline ball good pass into paint and No8 PP scores lay-up.  Phoenix had a slightly better quarter, Saints continue to run the floor. Quarter finshes 66-31, increasing their lead to 35 points.

4th Quarter

SM ball from start, SM TO the ball No8 gives good fast break pass but fail to score.  SM TO over the ball from good defence in the post by No11 PP.   No 6 PP drives to basket No15 SM called for blocking foul, shooting 2 makes both shots.  No 14 get the ball in the paint and make easy 2, No 11 PP score 2 from FT,  Foul on No 6 PP for holding 2nd foul, 2 shots for No4 SM,  misses both.  PP push for fast break but give away the ball but work hard to get it back and No11 drives to basket to score easy 2points.  No 8 steals ball and dishes to No11 PP andscores for 2 pts.  Time-out SM.  3 mins gone 68 – 39.  SM ball from inbound, No12 scores easy 2 pointsjus outside key on the baseline.  Foul by No13SM on No9 PP shooting 2 FT, misses both shots, but No8 grabs OR and No11 PP puts it in for 2pts. SM No14 scores gets ball in the paint again and scores.  PP TO the ball and No4 on fast break gets fouled by No11 PP and goes to the line for  2 shots, makes the 1st and misses the 2nd but No14 SM grabs the OR and get 2 pts.  PP up on offence and No12 scores mid range 2. No 8 SM scores baseline 2, No4 SM called for push on No6 PP, sideline ball.  No12 grabs OR but a pass goes out of bounds SM ball, No 10 SM scores another baseline 2.  No 15 PP gets blocked in the paint and SM have fast break where No4 and No15 combine to score easy 2. PP TO and SM No4 drives baseline and gets the foul and goes to the line for 2, make 1 from 2 shots.  2mins to go 82-43.   No15 SM and No12 PP fight for ball, PP come away with it but TO again.  SM work ball into the post easily and No15 scores easy 2pts.  PP attaack the basket and No12 PP scores 2.  30seconds to  SM have possession SM 15 grabs OR and gets fouled going to the basket, 2shots makes 1 from.  No15 gets fouled on defence and goes to the line, makes 1st shot and the 2nd with 6 seconds to go. PP had 5 teams fouls. Game ends 87 – 45.  Polonia Phoenix put in alot of hussle and effort.  St Mirren Saints had control right from the start and saw it through to the end.
